Domain Gallery is pleased to present China Streetviews,
a solo exhibition by UK artist Phil Thompson curated by Manuel Fernández.
Phil Thompson (1988) lives and works in London. His work investigates the role of documentation and image dissemination online. He works in images, videos and sculpture, often utilising material found online.
About the project:
"Given Google’s very public withdrawal from mainland China in 2010 over censorship concerns, it seems unlikely that they will ever bring their Street View technology to the roads of major Chinese cities. Currently the only photographic street view service provided in China is operated by Baidu, a company renowned for their cooperation with the state concerning censorship.
The project Replicate Google Streetview in China by taking public transport."
